Re: comment: Most great presidents have been

In the argument node text, under the list of Presidents who have served in combat is the web site I cited.

Although, I'm not entirely sure it's necessary, as this is all public knowledge. This is readily accessible information, and it's all common knowledge. Anyone who has been through a middle school American history program should be aware that the information is accurate.

Re: comment: Most great presidents have been

This isn't about the military, it's your assertion that most great Presidents had extramarital affairs

Re: node: Again... relevance?

J-Luck -

this node (in response to "McCain reversed his position on torture to appease his base") was deleted for the following reasons:

"The assertion had nothing to do with your opinion on interrogation techniques. I recommend you removed them from your assertion."

This is incomprehensible

"Mccain did not completely flip flop on the issue, so also, in this sense, your assertion does not apply."

If this is indeed correct, please create a new node for this point, but to do so you must explain how ""Mccain did not completely flip flop on the issue"

Re: comment: Again... relevance?

No, it's clearly not. Interjecting your opinion as a part of the assertion is reckless.

His opinion was completely irrelevant to the assertion. If he wanted to make that assertion then he should have placed it in a seperate node.

When I say this, I'm referring to his statement about torture being wrong. That is clearly not backed up in his assertion, and deserves its own node, so it can be properly be debated.

Re: node: McCain reversed his position on torture to appease his

I don't necessarily see two nodes here, but you're welcome to break it down:

"McCain was tortured in Viet Nam. He understands how ineffective it is as an interrogation method and he understands far better than most people that it is actually a terror tactic and a war crime, yet he has reversed his opposition to it to appease his base. This is a supreme lack of principle."

Re: comment: McCain reversed his position on torture to appease

Allow me to illuminate the darkness.

"McCain was tortured in Viet Nam. ...yet he has reversed his opposition to it to appease his base. This is a supreme lack of principle"--------- This is his assertion point. This is what should be debated.

"...He understands how ineffective it is as an interrogation method and he understands far better than most people that it is actually a terror tactic and a war crime,"-----This is a seperate assertion. I understand that he thought he was stating it as fact, but it's clearly a debateable point. There are actually two debatable points here, if it's truly broken down to its base. They are as follows:

#1.There is the question whether or not it is actually ineffective as an interrogation method, if it is actually a terror tactic and a war crime.

#2. There is the question whether or not John Mccain agrees with these statements, and whether or not he agrees with them(if, and only if, they are, indeed, true.)

Remove this child node and I can remove its parent.

Re: node: McCain gets unwarranted favorable treatment from the p

McCain gets no favors from the press. The press is backing Obama. we need to find out more about Obama before election. He needs to be asked, Where did he get all his money When he made a trip around the world? Did he live with a Muslim Family for awhile? When he went to Iran? and then entered an expensive college? Iran is one of our enemies? Jesse jackson said if Obama got elected Isreal would no longer be our friend, What did he mean by that?
