Node Text: Palin will attract female Democratic voters to the McCain ticket

For the first time since Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, female voters had an opportunity to vote for a strong female contender for the Presidency. Hillary Clinton energized and increased turnout among female voters, ultimately ending the Democratic campaign with over 18,000,000 votes before ultimately losing to Barack Obama.

John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate will enable him to attract many of the Democrats who voted for Hillary Clinton.
