Node Text: Trade is the relevant factor

Trade between nations occurs whether or not both countries share similar manifestations of economic structure. While the argument can be made that capitalism drives the most effective allocation of resources within the country in question (with failures appropriately mitigated of course), prices are necessarily revealed in the international market whether or not all trading partners adhere to similar economic ideologies. The prices are determined by the underlying force driving international commerce, the supply and demand profiles of the resources possessed by each partner.

The interdependence created by trade on the macro-level is the deterrent.
