Node Text: Lack of workers is most economically harmful to small farmers

Farmers, as well as other blue collar service sector businesses, are feeling the brunt of the tightening immigration restrictions. The H2A visa program for seasonal agricultural workers is impractical to meet harvest labor needs for small growers. Supplying less than two percent of the 1.2 million farm workers at peak harvest, asking farmers to increase their dependence on this burdensome visa will only hurt American agriculture.
