Node Text: Ordaining women could alleviate priest shortage

Though some religions have opened their arms to woman taking priestly roles, women are not allowed to hold such positions in the Catholic church.

By excluding one gender, the Catholic church will automatically lower the number of people who genuinely believe they are "called" to fulfill their true vocation. In turn, this will lead to a shortage of priests.

Moreover, many deeply devout Catholic women are equally adamant about how the teachings of the Catholic church do not exclude women from being ordained.

By allowing the official Catholic doctrine to continue to exclude women, the Catholic church may lose otherwise devout people who see this exclusion as contrary to the original Catholic doctrine.
