There are wars that are generally considered good, just or necessary.

Afghanistan was a just war because its government harbored and collaborated with the radical extremists that attacked the United States.

The genocide in Darfur seems unlikely to cease until either it is met with external military force, or the Janjaweed succeed in exterminating the the non-Baggara people.

WWII, the Civil War and the Revolutionary War are almost universally regarded as necessary and just.
